Power installations
Industrial sites contain various production equipment with different power capacities. All equipment must be reliably supplied with electricity from an industrial electrical panel. For this purpose it is necessary to build the necessary power lines. The parameters of these power lines, the routes and the method of installation shall be determined in the technical project. In some cases, the construction of busbars is suitable for supplying production machinery or electrical panels.
Industrial electrical switchboards
Electrical switchboards at industrial sites distribute electricity to individual equipment. They protect the electrical installations from overload, fires, electric shocks, and also ensure the safety of human operators. The circuit solutions and parameters of the switchboards are determined by the electrical designer of the site. Issues with the industrial switchboards often lead to shuting down the production process. Therefore, it is necessary to look for quality technical solutions at the design level and then as workmanship.
Industrial lighting
Industrial lighting provides an efficient and healthy working environment for people. The parameters and installation of the lighting system are calculated by the electrical design engineer. The selection of a specific types of lighting fixtures is made before the actual construction of the site and predetermines how economical electricity consumption will be, as well as the maintenance costs for replacing defective fixtures. Smart lighting systems are envisaged for higher-end sites.
Busbar systems
Busbar systems consist of mechanically resistant rigid components that are assembled in a suitable configuration for the purpose of transmitting and distributing electricity within a site or facility. They are quicker to install than cables, have significantly better mechanical protection than cables, and are significantly more compact. Busbar systems easily overcome non-linear installation routes through angled components – unlike cables which have a bend diameter. Junction boxes with circuit breakers for individual consumers are installed along them.
Power installations
Industrial sites usually contain multiple production machines, which must be reliably supplied with electricity from the relevant industrial electrical panel. This is most often done with electrical cables, along whose routes, depending on the type of the individual sections, the necessary electrical installation materials are installed – cable grills and ducts, installation pipes and cable clamps, the necessary troughs and openings are made, etc. The technical solutions are determined by the electrical designer of the site.
Fire alarm and emergency notification
The safety of people and the minimisation of damage to production in the event of a fire is ensured by two separate systems – one detects the occurrence of a fire and the other gives voice instructions for evacuation. All individual rooms on the site are equipped with fire detectors, loudspeakers for the emergency announcements, devices needed for interlocks in the individual electrical panels, etc. The two systems have separate control panels that communicate with each other. The parameters of the control panels, the type and location of the devices are determined by the designer and are his responsibility.
Earthing and lightning protection systems
The earthing system in production consists of a unified system of earthing devices, boxes, earthing loops in the rooms and arrestors electrical panels. All electrical panels and equipment are connected to it to ensure the proper operation of the system in the electrical panels, thus protecting human life and preventing fires. It is also an important element for the protection of sensitive electronics in machinery from electric shocks. The lightning protection installation can be connected to the on-site earthing system or be separate from it – with separate earthing systems.
Backup power supply
Backup power supply solutions are provided for the production processes, the interruption of which would lead to large economic losses. Ensuring the appropriate solution requirements, commends planning early in the process – in the design phase, when specification is prepared by electrical designer. The options are a diesel generator or UPS systems, or a combination of both, as well as the provision of a higher category of external power supply via a second 20kV power cable with an automatic switching system embedded in the transformer substation or the site’s substation.
