Each project in the Electrical section is a collection of functionally separate types of electrical installations with a specific application. Each of these installations is an important part of the whole and contributes a fully operational site. Only an experienced electrical designengineer can achieve optimal results in interlinking the separate electrical installations and integrate them with all the architectural and structural features of the site, the production equipment, HVAC, plumbing installations, while complying with all current regulations and standards for this type of construction. Here are some of the main types of electrical installations for the industrial sites that we develop in our projects under the Electrical part:
Power installations
The power installation project defines the technical solutions for economically optimal as well as technically safe and sustainable power supply of all technological equipment, HVAC and plumbing installations. Industrial sites contain numerous production equipment with varied power capacities. At the design stage, it is necessary to provide power supply for each piece of equipment, by determining the optimal routes and parameters of the cables – cross-section, type, method of laying, as well as all types of installation materials for them.
Industrial electrical panels and power lines
The aim of the project for the industrial electrical panels and power lines is to provide an optimal and safe solution for the internal distribution of all electricity in the industrial site. For all equipment, from lighting fixtures and outlets to production machinery, a power supply solution must be provided from a suitable electrical panel. Depending on the equipment connected to each panel, the corresponding schemes and power capacities are determined.
Industrial lighting
The lighting engineering calculations in the Electrical part of the project determine the optimum type, number and locations of luminaires on the site. These shall be carried out according to the current standard for artificial lighting of workplaces and traffic areas. The aim is to ensure an efficient and healthy working environment. Lighting equipment often operates many more of hours per year compared to other equipment, so it is important at project level that it is correctly selected, precisely calculated and efficiently controlled.
Industrial busbar
In contrast to cables, busbars transmit electrical energy through individual rigid and mechanically resistant elements, which are assembled appropriately depending on the geometry of the room and the location of the consumers. They are a modern, efficient and safe means of supplying power to groups of small and medium-sized machinery or to equipment with large capacities. They are quick to install and allow flexibility in reorganising equipment.
Factory substations
Factory transformer substations are of standard and non-standard type, the latter can also be built into the factory building to diminish losses. The most suitable configuration depends on the architectural features and electrical parameters of the site, as well as on the agreement with the relevant EDC. Optimal positioning of the substation can save large economic costs both in construction and in reduced voltage losses.
Fire alarm and emergency notification
Emergency systems in the event of a fire shall be designed to ensure the safety of people and minimise material damage. The fire alarm system (FAS) shall detect the presence of fire early throughout the site while the voice alarm system shall provide clear and understandable instructions for evacuation of building occupants. In addition, the FAS shall provide a signal across other emergency equipment on the site – smoke ventilation, fire suppression, automatic doors, etc.
Lightning protection and earthing
Prevention of electric shock, protection from fire hazard and circumvention electrical installation malfunction – whether in the building or in individual machines, as well as the protection of sensitive electronics from electric shocks are achieved by design solutions combining the parameters of the apparatus in the electrical panels and an effective earthing and lightning protection system on the industrial production site.
Quantitative accounts under CCS
A comprehensive bill of quantities in the technical design phase with all types of supplies and construction work is an important element for obtaining complete bids from contractors, as well as for preparing a correct construction budget. During the actual construction, all payments are based on the items in the bill of quantities.
